Yeah, might be best to just toss Gear 1 as it is now and improve the handling across the board. Gear 1 is frankly so slow it's boring. Or just make a Moderate difficulty with Gear 2 speed and Relaxed-level AI (or at least some happy medium between Relaxed and Intense). But I'd still like that...

Yeah, that's my thought as well. The "for seasoned veterans" should be Hard or even Master difficulty, not Normal. I understand making rivals more challenging to make players not quite so comfortable, but making the AI outright cheat is just not fun.

Yeah, Ryu is a very good candidate for Capcom's "representative" Brawl, besides Mega Man. The thought of going all out with Hadouken projectiles in a Smash Bros. game is good. If Dan Hibiki got in instead, though... That would be the biggest amount of win EVER.
